Liberty and Equality Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Liberty and Equality - Essay ExampleAs a function of this confusion with regards to some of the core precept that help to define the lodge in which we live, it will be the express intent of this particular depth psychology to engage the reader with an understanding of the immutable nature of equality and liberty. Through such analysis and focus upon the way in which these two are relate and dissimilariated from one another. Yet, the fact of the consequence is that the interplay between equality and liberty is something that perennially exists. Ultimately, each and every decision that is made with regards to greater levels of liberty, or the go thereof, has a direct and/or tangential impact with regards to the manner in which an individual can experience a degree of equality. Naturally, in a perfect world, society views equality and liberty as two goods that should be able to exist alongside one another in equal measure. However, the fact of the matter is that one necessarily co nstrains the other and causes a situation by which an increased degree of equality adversely impacts liberty and vice versa. The following analysis and discourse will more appropriately define this inverse relationship and the means by which it is exhibited within the United States both past and present (Smith 456). One psychoanalyst noted, The balancing of liberty and equality interests cannot be accomplished in the abstract. We cannot decide issues involving specific legislation by determining that we lack enough liberty or that our society has too much equality. Careful evaluation requires inquiry into the specific nature of the individual liberty that may be sacrificed and the value of the equality that will be enhanced if the proposal of marriage becomes law (New York Times 1). As such, the interplay between these two seemingly competitive virtues is clearly manifest. Firstly, before delving into an active definition and understanding of either liberty or equality, it must be appreciated that neither of these terms are in direct competition with one another for a position of being the more or less important guiding principle of democracy rather, these concepts are both cornerstones through which democracy is defined, upheld, and delineated. If one of these two terms had to be understood as of greater importance than its counterpart, then the entire framework upon which representative government is fabricated would topple. Ultimately, at its very core, liberty necessarily defines the state of being free. As such, this freedom has been exhibited within almost each and every aspect of the way in which the American experience of government has come to be known. Although the freedom of liberty is a defining hallmark of the way in which he United States has come to experience its own development and growth as a political and well-disposed concept, the fact of the matter is that the actual application of liberty itself is not static. Just like with the way i n which equality has come to be re-defined and re-understood throughout different periods of the nations history, liberty and the freedoms that it entails has been defined, constrained, and redefined as different experiences have shaped the way in which this concept is reflected within the American populace. A quick pillowcase of this can of course be seen with regards to the way in which liberty came to be constricted after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Whereas the nation itself was in a

This essay makes an attempt to compare the classical economic theories and Keynesian economic theories. The essay takes a descriptive lift where economic theories of two different periods are compared and contrasted from three angles, namely beliefs, theories and policies.Firstly on the basis of beliefs-Malthus, one of the classical economists believed that, if increase in universe of discourse was not enough to depress the rate of long term ontogeny it would affect the diminishing returns. And also believed that to ensure growth the government should adopt laissez faire approach which included free trade and free markets. In addition to this, Adam Smith, the Father of Economics who introduced the notion of invisible hand supported t he economic action and led to optimum balance (Stoft, 2002). They also viewed if there is disequilibrium between leakages and injections then the price would adjust to restore equilibrium. In spite of these beliefs they were not much capable in the initial periods but later they had confident with them that their approaches will lead to success in the market. But all this beliefs were strongly opposed by lavatory Maynard Keynes in his Keynesian theory. He argued that the market will not reach to equilibrium at full employment but would reach at each level of unemployment. And also argued that need for government was not essential to interfere in the market to manage level of demand and it was the level of output restored the equilibrium and made the leakages and injections equal through his multiplier effect.Secondly on the basis of theories-the classical economist views that free trades and free markets should be adopted to encourage growth in the market. And the government sho uld handle the situation if there is any imperfection that prevented free workings in the market by using supply

To Mason further, literature review asserts confidence that the writer is not the first to conjecture on the issue, others before have. Birthing Environments Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Birthing Environments - Essay ExampleThe radiation diagram of the parturition environment has remained a great concern in the ships company skilful from the olden days when gestation hospitals were scarce and unpopular for many societies in the world. The essence of this paper is to evaluate the social and cultural aspects associated with childbearing as a normal life event and to which these aspects are integrated while designing the physical birth environment. Childbirth as an ordinary life event has a great significance in all societies of the world because it provides the society with the capacity to propagate its generations into the future. Even long before the invention of medicine, earlier generations regarded childbirth as a sensitive and attention-demanding do that required proper preparation right from the pregnancy period up to the moment of child delivery. In fact, the modern design of physical child birth environment has borrowed a lot of its features from the tr aditional practices. Emphasis of nursing feel for during childbirth today can be perceive as an improved version of mid-wifely that was common in the past and is still persistent today in some cultures. Although medical practice has refined the childbirth process, there is still much that remains unsatisfying among many women who still feel the need for improvement of the design of the birth environment. Even with the introduction of maternity facilities in the medical sector, women are still yet to be contented with the birth environment provided in these hospital facilities (Squire, 2009). The social and cultural aspects of childbirth correct the ideal environment that birthing should take place. While the older generations experienced home birth, currently a great number of women populations receives medical pregnancy care and deliver on the maternal environment. For instance, Australia recorded 0.2% home births among all women who delivered in 2004, while the rest delivered m aternity care units in the country (Foureur, Leap, & Homer, 2013). Whether childbirth occurs at home or in the hospital, the serenity and the conduciveness of the environment during this process will determine the comfort that the woman receives while delivering. For instance, the privacy and freedom of the woman during the process are paramount and in some extent determines the ease of delivery. The environment, to some extent, determines the nature of the birth process, whether natural or caesarean. In this view, the physical environment where a woman delivers affects the ease of the process, comfort and care that are available for a woman to deliver successfully. The cultural perspective of child birth is historical and varies from society one society to another, but it is indisputable that each society accords great significance to the process. For instance, in the Hawaiian society, the birthing stones provided a physical environment for birth among Wahianas. In this society, ch ildbirth was a process that started right from the time a woman became pregnant and ended when the baby was delivered. The cultural significance that this society tie to the entire process emanates from equal importance that is accorded to the child that is delivered in the process. 3D Graphing Engine - Term Paper Example straight off geometry engines are c completelyed Vertex Shaders since they are programmable and toilet run so-called (vertex) shader programs to compute and animate the geometry of a scene. Every vertex that needs to be calculated toilet contain a lot of information, such as an x, y, z coordinate (a 3-dimensional position), texture coordinates, Normal Information (what direction the vertex faces), an identifier (which triangle it belongs to), Skinning parameters, lighting set or just about anything else. However, vertex processing alone does not result in a visible picture. So as to see all the triangles made up of all the vertices that the vertex shaders have calculated, they need to be colored. Certainly, the invisible object that is a result of the geometry processing needs to be wallpapered so it becomes visible. To be able to do this, the polygons need to be converted into pixels this is done during the triangle setup. The pixels are the n dealt with in the pixel shaders and pixel pipelines. The color cheer of a pixel is looked upon a texture this texture exists in graphics memory as a bitmap that was designed by the 3D artist. Textures dope be available in different resolutions. Higher resolution textures look better however, use more memory space and more memory bandwidth than trim resolution textures. For far away objects, this would not only result in wasted processing cycles, but it could also lead to display anomalies. As a result of this, textures are usually available in different resolutions. If textures of different resolutions are combined on one object then this is referred to as mip-mapping. This mip-mapping can produce visible borders between the two textures of different resolutions, called mipmap banding. Moreover, this mipmap banding can be minimized using different filtering techniques. Filtering means that for every pixel to be colored, more than one texel on the texture is looked up and the av erage is calculated and applied to the pixel.

Paul Heyne thought that the use of his principle would, help bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots. However, this idea is upon in that it promotes dependency on those people who work. By using this principle, it means that the individuals properties would be divided among the people who have an interest. His ideology advocated for equal results on the output eve n though the people claiming did not themselves enter in producing the output. Secondly, Paul Heynes creed of economic justice goes against the distributive principle that exists because of the capitalistic approaching used. This approach requires that the output of an economic system to be shared fit in to labor and or capital contribution. The distributive justice that we use in the capitalist approach is directly linked to the distributive approach. This is because the distributive approach is like a rewarding mechanism that aims at rewarding every person according to his labor or capital contribution. Conflicting to this approach, Paul Heyne creed was wrong since it aims at rewarding all the society members even though they did not participate in the output creation. His ideology of economic justice may confuse the distributive philosophy in that Paul Heynes principle is like a charity work unlike the distributive principle, which is more of a reward mechanism that rewards ef fort put in an economic system to gain a certain output. Likewise, I do not agree with Paul Heynes idea that a free and open market place with the exclusion of the government is the most objective and democratic means for determining the right price, right wages, and the right profits. Paul Heyne ideologies eliminate the government in decision-making. This is very wrong in that the government is a

Comment on the various sorts of love shown in Romeo and Juliet Essay Example for Free

Comment on the various sorts of do displayn in Romeo and Juliet EssayShakespeares Romeo and Juliet is a romantic tragedy based rough a pair of early lovers. The exemplify is set in 12th century Verona where a pair of families, the Capulets and the Montagues have been feuding for many years. The play revolves around Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet f every last(predicate)ing deeply in love and the events that befall these ii forbidden lovers. The play covers an array of different types of love and love related issues from brotherly love to corporal lust, Shakespeare uses the characters to portray stereotyped ideas of love and how it affects people. Before even the first scene is out, the play has already touched upon the idea of brotherly love. Benvolio, the cousin of Romeo, finds Romeo in a state of near depression and says to Romeo What sadness lengthens Romeos hours? With this termination Shakespeare is showing Benvolios cin virtuoso casern as a man big businessman u nto his brother. Romeo is sad because he has fallen in love with a girl, Rosaline In sadness, cousin, I do love a woman. only Romeos chosen spouse does non return the affection, as Romeo states She will not stay the siege of loving terms. Benvolio offers to Romeo the idea of looking for a different to a greater extent attainable woman. He gives this advice in order that his cousin may once once again be happy thus showing his affection for Romeo. Throughout the play Shakespeare writes about light when referring to love, he talks of it in the prologue before the play is even afoot A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life It does not stop here however, on Romeos first encounter with Juliet he says O she doth hear the torches to burn bright Meaning that she brings light to his dark troubled state of mind, where there was the haze of rejection her light shines through brightening his mood.Again in scene two upon come toing with Juliet his love Romeo compares her presence to li ght merely soft, what light through yonder window breaks? To Romeo meeting Juliet is like the sun rising, upright as the sun lights up the world she lights up his mood and, as the sun clears the morning mist, so Juliet clears the fog of his mind leaving it clear. I think Shakespeare uses these references to light to show that in dark times often love can show the way. Perhaps showing that in the face of a problematic social environment love can be a beacon to those who embrace it.When Romeo first visits friar Lawrence in Act two Scene three they speak of Romeos new love for Juliet and change of subject matter to Rosaline With Rosaline, my ghostly father? no I have forgot that name, and that names woe By this he is recounting the friar that he has not only stopped doting on Rosaline but, has in fact undergone a total change in spirits forgetting the woes he had over Rosaline. However the Friar speaks of the doubts he had for the sincerity of Romeos love for Rosaline in the fi rst place Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell. This implies that Romeo, whilst sounding outwardly convincing lacked the heart and soul behind his words. Shakespeare is again using a characters opinion to influence that of the audience, in this case Romeos love for Rosaline may well have been true but repayable to the friars opinionated spoken language the audience is cast into doubt on the matter. The friar also chides Romeo about his use of elaborate metaphorical language when talking of love, telling him to be plain, good son, For in order for Friar Lawrence to absolve Romeo he must first be able to understand him.Yet it is not just the friar who is suspicious of Romeos decorative words, Juliet had already commented on the way he talks in Act two Scene two O say not by the moon, thinconstant moon, That monthly changes in her circled orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable. Romeos allegorical promises do not hold well with Juliet because in his words no def inition can be found merely elaborate metaphors. However Juliets complaints go unheeded for later Act two Scene six Romeo is again using exotic language in order to describe his love for herUnfold the imagined happiness that both Receive in either by this sexual love encounter. Juliet however responds by saying Conceit, more rich in matter than in words, Brags of his substance, not of ornament They are but beggars that can count their worth, yet my true love is grown to such excess I cannot sum up sum of half my wealth. What Juliet is saying here is that unlike Romeo she cannot sum up her love for him in words. Shakespeare uses strong negative imagery such as beggars and conceit to display Juliets exasperation with Romeos continuing usage of needless ornate speech. But despite Juliets doubts and Romeos misleading words there is an overwhelming love between the pair that cannot go unnoticed. Even upon their first meeting Romeos feelings for Juliet are obvious Did my heart love til l now? He directs this phrase at Juliet before the two have even met. Yet when they do at last meet Juliet fortunes with Romeo not one but two kisses, the second induced by Juliet Then have my lips the sin that they have took These shows of affection in the time in which the play was written would be unheard of upon a first meeting. This shows just how the pair truly epitomise the phrase Love at first hole for they did not let the fact that they were total strangers hinder the strength of their feelings even if the feeling was only lust. However as of yet we cannot tell whether Romeo is sincere in his love this time rather than just lustfully infatuated as he was with Rosaline, the cousin of Juliet. However he proves himself later in the act by saying Call me but love, and tuberculous be new baptised Henceforth I never will be Romeo By this he is fling to change his name if it would make Juliet love him and be with him.During Shakespearian times it was no small feat to denounce o nes name, there was a lot more weight placed upon names back then, especially if it was a name of high social standing as was Romeos. This proposal shows the true and serious genius of Romeos newfound love. However it is not simply Romeo who makes such a bold offer for earlier in the scene Juliet says be but sworn my love, And Ill no longer be a Capulet To the audience Shakespeare was writing for this selfless act on both their parts would have convinced the audience that their love was true.Another factor that Shakespeare played upon to influence his audience into believing that Romeo and Juliets love was true was his use of Religious language upon their first meeting. If I profane with my unworthiest pass by This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this, My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. Shakespeare deliberately uses this language to lay out a number of things. Firstly that Juliet like a shrine is untouched or virginal this t heme is recurrent through the first two acts of the play.second it However not all Shakespeares examples of love are so romantic for instance Juliets mother The Lady Capulet says to Juliet considering the offer of marriage from Paris So shall you share all that he doth possess, By having him, making yourself no less. This shows a very materialistic side to Lady Capulet it also implies that the reason she is married to Lord Capulet might not necessarily be because they are in love. It portrays a much more dutiful love between Juliets parents perhaps Lady Capulet loves Lord Capulet simply because they are married rather than being married because they are in love. This type of relationship was common in Tudor times because often love affair was overlooked in the face of bettering oneself pecuniaryly. Paris show of affection for Juliet is not without a intelligence of duty he, as was proper in those days, approaches Lord Capulet for his daughters render in marriage But now, my lord , what say you to my suit? At this point Capulet believes his daughter to be too young for marriage yet he encourages young Paris to woo her in order that she may fall in love with him down the line And too soon marred are those so early made. Might be referring to the marriage of himself and lady Capulet that has now become loveless and hollow. He as a loving father does not aspiration this upon his own only child so through Paris persistence Shakespeare shows another form of love, the love of a father for his daughter. Yet not all Shakespeares characters believed in such an honourable love. In his opening scene there are two servant men talking between themselves, there speech although on the topic of fighting generally is rife with sexual innuendo and pun.For example Ay, the heads of maids, or their maidenheads, take it in what sense thou wilt This line seemingly innocent to the reader of our time has a very rude meaning in Shakespearian language where maidenhead means virginit y, in this sense the two are talking of having sex with virgins, more than a little less noble than the good Paris. They speak also of pushing women to the wall because of their weaker fortify this all shows little true emotion and a very physically sexual type of love if indeed it can be referred to as that at all.Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet was a revolutionary piece when it was written because it showed just how love can move people in an age where marriage for social or financial gain was the norm. Over nearly five hundred years Shakespeares language and story line has captivated the hearts and minds of generations of lovers with its unique mixture of reality and fantasy. Romeo and Juliet is one piece of Shakespeares work that will remain a true timeless classic.

Between 1973 and 1975, oil was discovered in varying amounts in the Doba, Doseo, and Lake Chad basins, that led to the creation of a multinational consortium comprising Conoco (12. 5% and operator), Royal Dutch/Shell (37. 5%), Exxon (25%), and Chevron (25%).In 1981 all the exploration projects were stopped due to escalating civil war. In 1988 a convention was signed between the government of Chad and the consortium, granting exploration permit with term of validity until early 2004. Conoco withdrew from the project, and Exxon took over operations, discovering the Bolobo field in 1989 with estimated cxxxv million barrels of reserves. 3 Chevron, in its turn, sold its share (20% interest in the Block H hydrocarbon license containing the three fields) to Elf Aquitaine, in 1993.
